**Organizational Setting**

In its South-South cooperation activities, FAO shares the Brazilian experience in promoting initiatives for rural development. To this end, it works closely with the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC). The Agency is part of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is responsible for negotiation, coordination, implementation, and follow-up Brazilian programmes and projects on technical cooperation.
The Project Analyst will be based at ABC and will be hired to work specifically, but not exclusively, on the project “GCP/RLA/199/BRA and “GCP/RLA/237/BRA”. Coordinated by the Brazilian Cooperation Agency and implemented by FAO, these projects will complement other South-South cooperation initiatives conducted by the Brazilian government in the cotton-growing sector in Africa, such as the Cotton-4 + Togo, Cotton Victoria and Cotton Shire Zambezi. The project also complements the South-South cooperation activities in food and nutritional security developed by FAO and the Government of Brazil.

**Reporting Lines**

Under the general supervision of the Regional Coordinator of the project GCP/RLA/199/BRA and CGP/RLA/237/BRA and direct supervision of the Coordinator of Trilateral South-South Cooperation with International Organizations of the ABC, the Project Analyst should be responsible for:
**Technical Focus**
- Provide technical support in negotiations related to the development of international technical cooperation programmes, such as technical support for project cycle;
- Provide analytical technical advice on proposals for South-South cooperation projects;
- Prepare analytical information on the development of programmes, projects and activities;

**Tasks and responsibilities**

Within delegated authority, the Project Analyst will be responsible for the following duties:

- Design and operationalize instruments for the dissemination of successful experiences of Brazil’s South-South cooperation;
- Assist in the identification and formulation of trilateral South-South cooperation mechanisms;
- Support the elaboration/development of databases or documents from recipient countries (country briefs, cooperation demands, etc.).
- Organize and execute projects activities and give specialized project management support to ensure that the various activities are performed within the established targets;
- Provide specialized expertise and contribute towards the development of project activities, plans and processes within the specific technical area of work ensuring alignment with wider programme policies and guidelines;
- Prepare a variety of reports and substantial data analysis, ensuring that project’s deliverable adhere to corporate standards and quality control;
- Support the organization of the Project's and related South-South cooperation missions, meetings and briefing sessions;
- Technical Support on field for the Project's and related South-South cooperation work with national and international counterparts to build common understanding and coordination on project activities;
- Support the Government of Brazil in monitoring the development of the strategies, methodologies, contingency plans that respond to new and emerging operational challenges for project countries;
- Participate in field visits to provide technical support for the evaluation and improvement of planning, programming, implementation and monitoring process that interfere on the project success;
- Comment on publications, technical analysis, and researches;
- Brief project’s steering committees on project’s developments, if requested;
- Support the elaboration of trilateral South-South technical cooperation programmes, projects, and activities associated with negotiations established between the Brazilian Government, other countries and international organizations, particularly in the elaboration
