**Purpose of the Job**

The purpose of the Senior Medical Fellow is to be an expert on specific safety matters for GPS senior leadership and to serve as a consultative and advisory resource to GPS, Discovery, Early and Late Phase Clinical Development groups; to perform medical roles within GPS such as a product Lead Safety Physician or Clinical Case Management; and to train, coach and mentor colleagues within GPS.

**Key Responsibilities**

Serve as a senior scientific consultant to GPS senior management, Medical Directors and all Physicians within GPS. Such consultation will focus primarily on scientific, clinical and technical matters pertaining to pharmacovigilance and clinical development. Serve in an advisory capacity and participate in GPS specialty safety advisory committees as appropriate based on their specific area of expertise. Serve as a resource and mentor in the education and training of medical staff, both internal and external to GPS, in their specific area of expertise. Function to define, communicate and be an advocate for the vision and mission of Lilly GPS with respect to their specific area of expertise to both internal and external audiences Provide GPS Medical leadership and input into all aspects of safety of assigned products including proactive surveillance, risk management and mitigation planning and maintenance of the Core Safety Information. Understand the role of the EU qualified person and ensure their involvement in the pharmacovigilance of assigned products to enable them to fulfill their legal responsibilities. A GPS Senior Medical Fellow is expected to meet the criteria as outlined in the global path job criteria for the R7 level.

**Minimum Qualification Requirements**

Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy. Must be board certified in appropriate specialty/subspecialty or have completed the comparable level of post-medical school clinical training to the country of hiring. Minimum of 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with drug or device safety or in the field of specific expertise.

**Preferred Skills**

Formal training in public health, epidemiology, statistics, pharmaceutical medicine, clinical pharmacology or toxicology. Strong clinical/diagnostic skills Strategic thinking Regulatory experience Good communication skills, both verbal and written Team player
