**Role Title**:HSSE Technician

**Position Summary**:
This role reports to Rio HSSE Leader and will be responsible for data management of safety programmes at Rio Plant, including BBSO, V&V, HSSE recommendations follow ups, waste disposal, etc. The role has also a strong presence in the field as safety officer, assessing risks, delivering HSSE training and implementing HSSE initiatives, programmes and projects.

**Key Outputs**:

- BBSO System Oversight - maintain local system, update reports; produce, analyse and communicate.
- V&V System Oversight - maintain local system, update reports; produce, analyse and communicate.
- HSSE Recommendations System Oversight - maintain local system, follow up on open actions, update reports; produce, analyse and communicate.
- Update the HSSE events / incident database and track/analyse trends; track follow-ups associated with incident reporting.
- Prepare, manage and log waste manifests with environmental agency (INEA).
- Control PPE inventory, managing purchases and legal requirements.
- Act as safety officer in the field ensuring compliance with site safety rules, OIMS and regulations.
- Support risk assessment and incident investigation.
- Assist with the on-going development and updating of the Rio HSSE Manual and SharePoint site.
- Maintain HSSE files.
- OIMS Administration.
- Conduct new colleague induction training.
- Support training plan.
- Lead HSSE meetings.
- Conduct training sessions / classes.
- Support field inspections.
- Any additional responsibilities as assigned

- Safety Technician degree registered in the Ministry of Labour required.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment in HSE department required.
- Intermediate English required.
- Knowledge of Brazilian HSE Regulatory Requirements desired.
- Ability to deal with multitasks and good sense of prioritization.
- Good relationship and Interpersonal skills - capacity of influencing others.
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel/Word/PowerPoint.
- Strong Communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to clearly demonstrate and convey concepts to large and small audiences of various levels.
- Driven individual with ability to work independently or show excellence within a team.
