Your field of responsibility

NFR is hiring an Operational Risk Manager to join the team to provide risk coverage for our Brazil legal entities including its Investment Bank and Wealth Management businesses. The Operational Risk Manager acts as second line of defense and will be responsible for challenging the operational risk activities carried out by the businesses within Brazil. This role reports into the NFR Lead for the IB and involves working closely with teams across NFR, Risk, Compliance, Corporate Functions, and the Front Office.
- Provide independent holistic risk coverage, risk review and challenge of the implementation of the Non-Financial Risk Framework (NFRF), best-practice, policies, and processes for the business unit in line with NFR deliverables.
- Responsible for developing a front-to-back view of operational risk for the business unit with an understanding of end-to-end processes.
- Support and challenge where necessary the business division with content and advice throughout the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process. This includes documentation of challenge log, risk acceptance, Reverse Stress Testing (RST), sign-off and approval of RCSAs.
- Perform operational risk thematic reviews / deep dives and capability assessments to identify control gaps and remediation.
- Attendance of and active engagement in standing business partnership and control meetings focusing on identification of emerging and existing risks, escalation/ highlight issues, mitigation and remediation to ensure an environment of continuously improving operational risk management.
- Support the country Chief Risk Officer in responding to regulatory engagements and requests.
- Independent review of New Business and Pre-Trade Approvals, assess operational risks and control vulnerabilities arising from proposals and work with business partners to provide risk rating.
- Responsible for providing guidance to the Business in identifying and proposing relevant metrics, prompting them to review metrics when Key Non-Financial Risks are reviewed and/or updated, and at other relevant periodic points as necessary.
- Partnership with other NFR teams to ensure consistent deployment and implementation of the evolving operational risk framework and input into global initiatives

IB Non-Financial Risk (NFR) is responsible for the independent oversight of the Non-Financial Risk Framework (NFRF) for the Investment Bank and acts as the ‘second line of defense’ in reviewing and challenging the operational risk profile for the businesses operating within these. We are looking for proactive, technically proficient risk manager who will lead and develop talent, specifically:

- A high performer with outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Ability to convey complex topics in an engaging manner.
- Practical knowledge of the principles and approaches for operational risk management.
- Significant experience in a similar role or from a business, middle office or control function (e.g. COO, Product Control, Middle Office).
- Evidence of acting in a ‘trusted advisor’ capacity to deliver challenge and sound opinion, including provision of impactful solutions.
- Proven track record of managing business partners across multiple business functions/ lines and developing positive working relationships with senior business partners.
- Detailed knowledge of investment banking products, processes and systems. Extensive professional experience in the financial industry with broad experience across asset classes.
- An inquisitive mind set with the ability to identify risk and mitigation through the analysis of data and discussion based investigation.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving skills and ability to rapidly comprehend complex issues for operational risk impact and monitoring the development of trends.
- Highly organized, results-oriented and self-motivated with an ability to learn. Demonstrate strong project management skills to focus and overcome complexity and time constraints.
- Strong interpersonal skillset, ability to perform in challenging situations without conceding accuracy or quality of discernment.
- Bachelors or Masters degree level education.
