**Organization Profile**:
NESsT is an international non-profit organization with offices in Latin America and Europe. NESsT invests in social enterprises (“SE”) that generate dignified jobs for people most in need. We use an engaged approach, providing tailored financing and one-on-one business development support to social entrepreneurs in emerging markets. Through their businesses, social entrepreneurs empower people in their communities with the hard and soft skills, technology and ongoing support they need to improve their livelihoods and create dignified futures.

NESsT invests in enterprises supporting job creation in emerging economies. Since 1997, NESsT has invested in 233 enterprises that have impacted the lives of over 1,096,340 individuals. The organization operates in Latin America with offices in Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador and Chile; Central Europe with offices in Poland and Romania; and headquarters in the U.S.

NESsT currently manages a loan fund, the NESsT Lirio Fund, actively investing in social enterprises looking to raise capital from $50K to $500K. The fund targets underbanked small businesses with high social and environmental potential but riskier profiles (according to the financial system). They are typically companies with annual turnover under $10M, usually based in rural areas, working with vulnerable communities (smallholder farmers, at-risk youth, vulnerable women). They often need to bolster their financial management capabilities.

The fund provides senior, secured debt and mezzanine to profitable companies looking to scale their operations for a more robust and sustainable social impact. The loan fund team is based in Lima, Peru, with activities in Peru and Colombia and is looking to grow into Brazil in 2024.

**Position Overview**:
The Director will work closely with the NESsT acceleration team based in Brazil (Sao Paolo, Santarem, Manaus, Brasilia, Sao Luis) on deal sourcing, business assistance, methodology, and knowledge sharing.

The position will report to the Global Head of Fund located in the United States.

**Key Duties & Responsibilities**:Sourcing, **Underwriting and Closing Transactions**
- Generate leads and investment opportunities using your existing network and leveraging the network of NESsT.
- Analyse and perform due diligence on SEs' financial status, credit, and property evaluations to determine the feasibility of granting loans. Due diligence is achieved by conducting extensive interviews with company management, lenders/investors, clients, employees and suppliers, and sector experts and performing market analysis of the company’s sector.
- Support in building investment memos to present to the Credit Committee at all three stages of underwriting (L1 - introductory memo, L2 - deep dive commercial diligence and term sheet, L3 - final confirmatory diligence and legal closing).
- Build, manage, and own the loan finance model for each transaction: Incorporate projections provided by management teams into the underwriting financial model; Develop and run scenarios and sensitivities for downside cases to stress test management cases.
- Participate in monthly Credit Committee meetings to present and seek approval for the opportunities.
- Discuss the documents and analysis performed on the SEs with the Global Head of Funds.
- Highlight identified risks and recommend risk mitigation strategies, including proposing conditions and covenants.
- Provide business assistance (during due diligence) to entrepreneurs to help them qualify for NESsT loans. This may include assisting them in building financial statements and models, allowing them to refine business models, and strengthening aspects of leadership and governance.
- Perform a detailed assessment of the companies’ social and environmental impact, including job creation and land conservation, using NESsT’s impact framework.
- Support transaction negotiations and closing: term sheet negotiation, final loan documentation, ancillary agreements related to loan documentation, and cash management of loan disbursal.
- Availability for travelling.

**Qualifications**:

- A bachelor's degree, with master's degree preferred in a relevant field (MBA, economics, finance).
- At least eight years of total work experience, with at least four years experience in investing and financial review of SMEs in Latin America, preferably in credit risk or investment banking roles, SME financing or leasing business.
- Proven ability to source investment opportunities
- Proven ability to lead the entire lifecycle of transactions, including origination, due diligence and execution, promptly
- Proven ability to oversee investment proposals and present loan opportunities to investment committees
