Our team is growing, and we are looking for a driven BIM Estimator – (Mechanical Systems) to join us in supporting project pursuits and delivering accurate, competitive, and timely estimates.

Position Summary

The Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for union and non- union wet and dry trades—specifically HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems. This role requires strong trade knowledge, labor cost analysis, and the ability to leverage BIM/VDC tools to ensure precise and reliable estimating. The successful candidate will bridge their hands-on understanding of the trades with digital construction workflows to help ICON-BIM deliver best-in-class solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Review project drawings, BIM models, and specifications to develop detailed estimates for HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical system scopes.

• Perform model-based and 2D quantity takeoffs for piping, ductwork, and associated systems.

• Analyze labor (union agreements, open-shop rates, production rates), materials, and equipment costs to generate accurate and competitive bids.

• Maintain and update labor rates, production benchmarks, and historical cost data.

• Support proposal development, including scope narratives, clarifications, and alternatives.

• Partner with project managers and leadership on budgets, bid reviews, and change- order evaluations.

Mandatory Qualifications

• Experience: 3–5+ years of estimating experience in HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems, preferably with a background in VDC/BIM environments.

• Trade Knowledge: Strong understanding of wet/dry systems including ductwork, hydronic piping, plumbing fixtures, and mechanical equipment installation.

• Software: Proficiency with BIM/VDC tools (Revit, Navisworks, Fabrication CADmep), estimating/takeoff software (Bluebeam, or similar), and Microsoft Excel.

• Skills: Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills with attention to detail.

Desirable Qualifications

• Prior field experience in HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical systems before moving into estimating or BIM coordination.

• Labor Knowledge: Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements, jurisdictional rules, and/or non-union labor costing.
