We’re hiring a Senior Software Engineer in Test at XILO , a fast-growing AI-driven startup transforming the insurance industry. With 200+ clients, growing data, and fresh Series A funding, we’re scaling quickly — and we’re looking for someone to help us ensure quality and reliability at every step. The Role: You’ll lead the charge in shaping and scaling our test automation strategy , with a focus on end-to-end testing using Playwright and TypeScript. You’ll work closely with engineering teams to define best practices, build test coverage for new and existing features, and make testing a first-class citizen in our development lifecycle. This is not a passive testing role — you’ll be embedded in sprint planning and start writing tests before the features are even built , anticipating behavior, aligning with developers, and enabling test-first workflows. While your main focus will be automation, you’ll also support high-priority manual validation when needed. You’ll take ownership of: Designing, maintaining, and improving our Playwright-based E2E test suites Writing test coverage for cross-service platform workflows and domain-specific modules Defining testing standards, tooling, and patterns used across all teams Partnering with developers during sprint planning to prepare test coverage in advance Leading CI/CD test integration and improving overall test stability and performance Supporting critical release testing and mentoring engineers on writing integration/unit tests What You’ll Bring: ✔️ 5+ years of experience in software testing , with a strong focus on automation ✔️ Deep knowledge of Playwright and TypeScript , and a track record of building resilient test systems ✔️ Experience writing system-level and module-level E2E tests in a modern web platform ✔️ Comfort working closely with developers and PMs to build test-first workflows ✔️ Experience designing test strategies , introducing tools, and improving CI pipelines ✔️ Bonus: Familiarity with Jest , Postman , Sonar , or performance/load testing tools Why Join XILO? ✅ A great tech startup – Small, fast-moving, and driven by real impact ✅ Endless career growth – Help define testing culture across teams and services ✅ Strong leadership & backing – Work with experienced founders and top-tier investors ✅ Full ownership – From strategy to tooling, you’ll shape how we ship confidently If you’re looking for a high-impact QA/automation role where your work enables engineering velocity, product confidence, and great user experiences, let’s chat
