Job Summary

The International Labour Organization (ILO) is seeking a highly skilled National Project Coordinator to lead the implementation of a project focused on promoting decent work in supply chains. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the project's timely implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, as well as providing technical and administrative supervision to the project team.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Project Implementation: Lead the project's timely implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, ensuring that all activities are carried out in accordance with the project document and work plan.
  2. Technical Supervision: Provide technical and administrative supervision to the project team, ensuring that all tasks are completed to a high standard and in accordance with ILO policies and procedures.
  3. Programme Development: Contribute to the development of programme and project proposals, as well as draft portions of programme and budget proposals, project proposals, and programme background documents.
  4. Progress Monitoring: Monitor the progress of ILO programmes, projects, and activities, reviewing, verifying, and analyzing work-plans, progress reports, and final reports.
  5. Problem-Solving: Identify problems, propose solutions, and follow up with relevant departments to expedite implementation and meet targets.
  6. Legal and Policy Advice: Provide or ensure access to legal and policy advice to the government and social partners on issues related to the effective implementation of fundamental principles and rights at work.
  7. Training and Awareness-Raising: Organize training programmes and awareness-raising activities to improve understanding of fundamental principles and rights at work.
  8. Quality Technical Inputs: Ensure the delivery of quality technical inputs, including qualitative and quantitative research in line with ILO core conventions on fundamental rights at work.
  9. Coordination and Reporting: Maintain close cooperation and coordination with government, employers', and workers' organizations in the planning and implementation of activities under the project, and prepare required technical progress reports and ad hoc reports.
  10. Administrative Management: Responsible for the effective administrative management of the office, including guidance and supervision of personnel assigned to the project.
  11. Communication and Visibility: Ensure high-level communications to increase project visibility at the national and international levels, including liaison with the UN country team and other key stakeholders.
Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • A first-level university degree in business management, international relations, public policy, international development, economics, law, or a related field.
  • At least three years of experience in project management, supervision, administration, and implementation of cooperative agreement requirements.
  • Experience working with worker organizations and/or working with vulnerable populations and/or at risk of labor violations.
  • Fluency in English and Portuguese is required.
