**Job Summary**
This position involves the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of fire apparatus and emergency vehicles. As an Emergency Vehicle Technician III, you will be working on complex mechanical issues and performing preventative maintenance work. The ideal candidate will have seven to ten years of progressive professional experience in the field and a strong understanding of NFPA 1901 and 1911 standards.
**Responsibilities**
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues
- Perform preventative maintenance work
- Participate in ordering fleet parts
- Prepare various types of fleet maintenance records and documentation
- Assist in maintaining shop facilities and equipment
- Perform other mechanical related duties
- Provide customer support and quality assurance
- Maintain service logs and records of fire truck apparatuses
- Keep tools, equipment, and work area clean, organized, and in good working condition
- Provide 24/7 on-call fleet maintenance support for assigned shift
- Maintain operational equipment assets
- Lead the work effort, train, and mentor subordinate EVT personnel
- Perform job duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school graduate
- Emergency vehicle technician LV I thru II, must meet the qualifications as defined in NFPA 1071 standard for emergency vehicle technician professional
- Qualifications for EVT I, II, and III
- Automotive Services Excellence (ASE) T1 Tru T7
- EVT exam F1 - F6
- CAC eligible and/or ability to obtain a CAC
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- A valid driver's license and ability to obtain a U.S. government motor vehicle operator's license and host nation driver's license, is required
- Host nation heavy duty driver's license
- Seven to ten years progressive professional experience on fire trucks, firefighting apparatus, or heavy transport vehicles, within a large city fire department, must have progressed to EVT LV III
Skills
- Emergency vehicle technician LV III must have the technological and electrical skills to diagnose, repair, and maintain the specialized equipment used on firefighting apparatus
- Mastery of various mechanical principles as applied to power transmission and braking systems, engine electrical systems, and hydraulics
- Mastery of NFPA 1901 standard for automotive fire apparatus and NFPA 1911 standard for the inspection, maintenance, and testing of automotive fire apparatus
- Mastery of fault determination through systematic troubleshooting of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Able to set the standard for professional excellence among the EVT team
