Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Packaging Engineer to join our team at LM Wind Power / GE. As a Packaging Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, validating, and implementing packaging concepts for finished goods based on customer requirements and plant guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Validate Bill of Materials (BOMs) to ensure all packaging items are properly marked for cost and production relevance to avoid production problems and/or inventory deviations.
  • Design, validate, and implement packaging concepts for finished goods based on customer requirements, international standards, and plant guidelines.
  • Identify opportunities on raw material suppliers' packaging to optimize costs and handling.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, customers, and suppliers to support topics related to design and quality of expendable/returnable packaging.
  • Support the analysis and monitoring of the packaging budget and forecast (business plan, current forecast, monthly cost reports).
  • Develop, lead, implement, and follow up on improvement and/or cost savings/avoidance projects in logistics and cost/piece.
  • Utilize problem-solving tools to recommend and execute solutions to overcome issues to meet customer requirements.
  • Perform loop calculations for returnable containers from different customers.
  • Create and execute engineering change orders for packaging-related updates/changes.
  • Support operations areas (production, manufacturing, and quality) for customer packaging-related surveys, quality/design issues, alternate packaging options, etc.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • General packaging processes knowledge - advanced.
  • Loop calculation for automotive customers.
  • ASTM/AIAG/ISTA test standards requirements.
  • Automotive customer portals packaging information requirements.
Preferred Skills
  • Proficiency in software: NX preferred, SolidWorks/AutoCAD acceptable.
  • Budget and forecast development and tracking knowledge/skills for returnable containers.
