Job Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Standardized Patient Instructor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching learners various techniques, including history-taking, physical examination, communication, and empathy.

The instructor will engage learners by providing step-by-step instructions on techniques, using their body as the teaching tool. They will also complete a rigorous initial training module and refresher training prior to all teaching sessions.

All SP work is supervised by the SP Educator, Administrative Manager, Operations Manager, and the Director of Simulation & Clinical Skills. Work hours will vary and are dependent upon course schedules.

The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious work relations with faculty, staff, students, and the general public.

  • Responsibilities:
  • Teach learners techniques, including history-taking, physical examination, communication, and empathy
  • Engage learners by providing step-by-step instructions on techniques
  • Complete a rigorous initial training module and refresher training prior to all teaching sessions
  • Maintain current simulation and clinical skills knowledge
  • Demonstrate flexibility and reliability with work scheduling and assignments
  • Allow and be comfortable with having repeated physical examination maneuvers performed on body by learners and clinical faculty
  • Accept ongoing feedback from supervisors to incorporate into case simulation
  • Be willing to be audio and videotaped during simulations (onsite and virtual)
  • Follow written and verbal instructions from supervisors
  • Follow all Center and HU Policies and Procedures

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must be of legal status to work in the US
  • Must be computer literate and proficient
  • Must successfully complete initial HU Introduction to Standardized Methodology workshop for scheduling

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as an SP
  • Experience in an academic, healthcare, or simulation learning environment preferred
