Job Opportunity: Senior Site Reliability Engineer

At DuckDuckGo, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Site Reliability Engineer to play a key role in building and maintaining world-class infrastructure that meets the needs of millions of users protecting their privacy online.

This individual will utilize high-level languages like Perl, Go, or Python to work on related projects. Recent projects have included preparing Duck.ai image uploads for production and reducing user impact of instances serving errors to users.

About This Role
  • 7+ years relevant professional experience in reliability, platform, infrastructure, or software engineering is required.
  • Experience participating in a 24x7 on-call rotation for a large-scale deployment is essential.
  • The ability to lead and collaborate on high-impact and complex projects from proposal through post-mortem is necessary.
  • Strong skills in wrangling vague problems, proposing innovative solutions, and executing them with a strong focus on metrics are required.
Key Responsibilities
  • Investigating root causes of instability in high-traffic, distributed systems is crucial.
  • Developing effective tools, services, alerts, and responses to identify and address reliability risks is vital.
  • Implementing automation around infrastructure provisioning and configuration management to prioritize efficiency, scalability, and reliability is essential.
  • Leveraging cloud-native services and architectures to enhance reliability and scalability is necessary.
Requirements
  • Deep experience administering and troubleshooting Linux and web technologies is required.
  • Advanced programming skills enabling close partnership with software engineers to triage production issues and identify appropriate remediation are essential.
