At SAP, we strive to bring out the best in our customers. To help us achieve this goal, we are seeking a talented Site Reliability Engineer to join our team.

This role will be part of a high-performance team that continuously improves the reliability of critical systems. As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will work closely with development and operations teams to identify engineering defects in the existing code base and improve its quality.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • IDentifying engineering defects in the existing code base and improving its quality.
  • Collaborating with development teams to implement and deploy new features and enhancements, ensuring they meet reliability and performance standards.
  • Performing code reviews and pair programming with other engineers on the team.
  • Defining and implementing efficient end-to-end provisioning of automation solutions.
  • Building CI/CD pipeline configurations to orchestrate provisioning and deployment.
  • Automating monitoring tools to monitor system health and reliability to support high uptime requirements.
  • Automating repetitive tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Cross-functional collaboration to define and establish service level indicators (SLIs), service level objectives (SLOs) and key software engineering metrics.
  • AWS and data center infrastructure automation using CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, and DevOps tools.
  • Conducting post-incident analyses to identify root causes and implementing preventive measures to avoid future incidents.
  • Capacity planning and resource allocation to ensure optimal system performance and scalability.
  • Staying up to date with industry best practices, new technologies, and emerging trends in site reliability engineering.
  • Maintaining documentation for system architecture, configuration, and troubleshooting procedures.

To excel in this role, you should have a deep understanding of DevOps, SRE, and agile software development roles and concepts. Proficiency in one or more languages such as Python, TypeScript/Javascript, Golang, Java, or C# is also required. Experience with Git and software development best practices, including GitOps, is essential. Additionally, knowledge of Microsoft and Linux/Unix systems, IaC, and Configuration Management is necessary.

We use AWS resources such as VPC, EC2, IAM, API Gateway, autoscaling, availability zones, Lambda, etc., to deploy and run systems at scale. Microservices architecture concepts and observability best practices, including monitoring and logging tools like Dynatrace, New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Splunk, etc., are also expected. Jenkins, AWS Code Deploy, or similar CI/CD tools and pipelines are used. Prior experience with containerized deployment is beneficial.
