Junior Accounting Analyst

Job Summary:

The Junior Accounting Analyst will play a pivotal role in the accounting department, assisting with daily accounting activities and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data. This position is ideal for a proactive and detail-oriented individual looking to grow their career in finance.

The analyst will be responsible for supporting various accounting functions, including journal entries, reconciliations, and assisting with month-end closing processes. This role provides an excellent opportunity to learn and develop a strong foundation in accounting principles.

The Junior Accounting Analyst will report to the Accounting Manager.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Journal Entries:
    • Assist in making journal entries in financial and accounting systems, ensuring transactions are correctly classified and recorded.
    • Record routine operations such as payments, receipts, billing, and payroll, among others.
  • Account Reconciliation:
    • Perform bank reconciliations, and reconcile accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, and other balance sheet accounts.
    • Identify and investigate potential discrepancies, and accurately and timely reconcile balances.
  • Account Analysis and Variance Analysis:
    • Analyze accounting accounts, identifying variations, trends, and anomalies in balances.
    • Prepare account analysis reports and explain variances to the accounting team.
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Assist in preparing periodic financial reports, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
    • Collect and organize financial data to support management's decision-making.
  • Compliance with Tax and Regulatory Requirements:
    • Assist in preparing the necessary documentation and information to meet tax obligations, including tax returns and ancillary obligations.
    • Stay up-to-date with accounting and tax regulations, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and laws.
  • Support for Audits and Closing Processes:
    • Collaborate with internal and external auditors by providing requested documentation and information accurately and on time.
    • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of accounting records.

Qualifications:

  • Technical or bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Basic knowledge of financial accounting and accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with accounting systems and the Office suite, especially Excel.
  • Analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good verbal and written communication.
