Job Summary
">- Coordinate with Hazardous Waste Manager to prioritize department tasks.
- Evaluate and maintain records of employee training, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Develop efficient waste collection and processing procedures in collaboration with other departments.
- Provide daily supervision and task management for the team.
- Support the preparation of mid- and post-season evaluations for crew members.
- In absence of the Hazardous Waste Manager, participate in weekly meetings and ensure continuity of operations.
- Promote community awareness through Waste Briefs or informational sessions as needed.
- Analyze issues and escalate them to the Hazardous Waste Manager when necessary.
- Collect hazardous waste from various departments, verify its quality on the HWIS form, and process it accordingly.
- Operate a range of tools including drum dollies, pallet jacks, banding equipment, power tools, shovels, and respirators.
- Maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) for different tasks.
- Conduct qualitative testing for items, such as pH and flash point testing.
- Pack materials safely and accurately input data into the hazardous waste tracking system.
- Verify shipping containers for quality and address discrepancies immediately.
- Familiarize yourself with job hazard analyses (JHA's) and update them as required.
- Collaborate with the Solid Waste Department as needed.
- During vessel and tanker operations, work 12-hour shifts on day or night shifts.
- Participate in spill response teams and be available on call for approximately one week each month.
- Supply manual labor for several hours if necessary and write spill reports when applicable.
- Meet physical demands of the role, which include lifting, bending, and consistently handling heavy loads up to 70 pounds.
- Acknowledge and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and task responsibilities within the Waste department.
- Work effectively in a team composed of diverse personalities.
- Display self-motivation in challenging work environments with approximately 90% outdoor activities.
- Show adaptability and a positive attitude in fast-paced settings.
- Support Operations Division metrics provided by supervisors.
- Help achieve ASC metrics, whether directly or indirectly impacted by this position's work activities.
- Comply with ASC Environmental Health & Safety, and Quality Assurance requirements and goals, providing necessary documentation.
- Work towards achieving ASC goals and contractual commitments.
- Maintain a safe workplace, prioritizing safety above all else, and perform other duties as required.
- Report to the Hazardous Waste Manager.
