The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Android Engineer to lead our team in architecting, building, and shipping high-quality Android software applications. As a key member of our team, you will provide technical guidance, mentorship, and champion best practices for software development.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high-quality Android software applications with a focus on durability, security, scalability, and performance.
  • Build and ship software code that meets the highest standards of quality and reliability.
  • Architect robust networking and data modeling layers to support our applications.
  • Provide recommendations on the best ways to solve complex problems for the Android platform.
  • Champion programming best practices and modular design patterns to ensure our codebase remains maintainable, testable, and elegant.
  • Own the delivery of major features and components, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Mentor and guide junior developers to help them grow in their careers.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with teams and clients to deliver software in an agile environment.
  • Improve existing code to make it more maintainable, testable, and elegant, and participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality code.
  • Practice pair programming and write unit tests to ensure code coverage.
  • Participate in Scrum and/or Kanban processes and ceremonies to ensure smooth project execution.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of professional programming experience with a strong understanding of the Android development lifecycle and ecosystem.
  • Comfortable using IDEs, version control systems like Git, and command line tools.
  • Experience with CI/CD and setting up deployment pipelines.
  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks such as Espresso, JUnit, Mockito/Mockk, and Appium.
  • Experience with Google APIs and SDKs, including Hilt.
  • Developed for multiple Android platforms and have a strong appreciation for inclusive and accessible UI implementations.
  • Experience with emerging technologies such as Machine Learning, Voice, and/or AR/VR.
