Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Rust Engineering Lead to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the adoption of Rust in our software offerings, starting with Ubuntu and expanding to other projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, with experience in designing and implementing well-tested and well-documented software in Rust. They should also be able to advocate for Rust adoption in Canonical and upstream projects, identify projects and codebases that could be prioritized for Rust adoption, debug and fix issues encountered by users, and participate in our engineering process through code and architectural reviews.

The successful candidate will also have excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with community and colleagues on technical specifications and seek improvements to engineering and operations practices.

  • Strong background in software engineering with experience in Rust
  • Ability to design and implement well-tested and well-documented software in Rust
  • Experience in advocating for Rust adoption in Canonical and upstream projects
  • Ability to identify projects and codebases that could be prioritized for Rust adoption
