Senior Accountant, Revenue Job Description

This role offers a unique blend of technical and collaborative skills, with a focus on revenue recognition, invoicing, and forecasting.

The successful candidate will take ownership of a portfolio of internal client teams, working collaboratively with AP and procurement departments to ensure accurate revenue recognition and accounts receivable.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Ownership of accounting records, including revenue recognition, invoicing, and accounts receivable
  • Collaboration with resource and project management teams to verify project forecasts align with contracts and work completed
  • Contribution to shared tasks such as reporting and data verification
Requirements

To succeed in this role, candidates should possess:

  • Technical Expertise:
  • 4+ years of professional accounting experience, preferably in a professional services environment
  • Significant expertise with the Percent Completion method of revenue recognition
  • Experience with revenue recognition, contract terms, accruals, deferrals, invoicing, and accounts receivable
  • Soft Skills:
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively in team environments
  • Proven track record of collaborating with clients and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Bonus Points

Candidates with the following skills are highly desirable:

  • Experience with financial software such as FinancialForce and Workday
  • Expertise in creating ad-hoc reports
  • Experience with the preparation of monthly financial statements
  • Understanding of IFRS 15 and/or ASC 606 Revenue Recognition
