Job Title: Lead Turbine Design Engineer

The successful candidate will lead the mechanical design of turbines in a project execution. This includes providing technical support to both the engineering team and other cross-functional areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Be the technical lead for hydro turbine mechanical design on new or refurbishment projects, supported by principal/consulting engineers.
  • Assess technical information from work packages and identify project risks and opportunities.
  • Develop and implement the basic design phase of projects and collaborate with hydraulic design teams and special calculation teams.
  • Design and calculate turbine components and validate critical ones with principal/consulting engineers.
  • Manage design reviews and follow up on actions.
  • Support customers in coordination with system integrators.
  • Prepare technical drawings and supervise draftsman work.
  • Optimize designs with supply chain and site installation teams to minimize equipment costs.
  • Compose reports and engineering documents, including test procedures and operation manuals.
  • Conduct site visits to assess existing turbines and participate in signature tests.
  • Provide technical support to supply chain and site installation teams.
  • Follow up on prototype performance testing.
  • Develop tools and design guides for turbine engineering.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5-10 years of relevant experience in mechanical design.
  • Experience with NX, AutoCad, and/or SolidWorks.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Availability for occasional travel to Brazil, Canada, and USA.
  • Willingness to develop expertise in hydro technical disciplines.
  • Fluency in English and Portuguese (French is an asset).
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams.
  • Coordinate multiple mandates simultaneously.
  • Effective problem identification and solution skills.
  • Proven analytical and organizational ability.
