Strategic Business Development Manager

At Mastercard, we're a global technology company that connects consumers, businesses, financial institutions, and governments across more than 210 countries and territories. We have entrusted you with the role of Senior Merchant Account Executive, where your primary objective will be to drive revenue growth in Brazil through strategic partnerships with key merchants.
This position is designed for a results-oriented professional with exceptional analytical skills, who can develop business relationships at all levels, especially with C-level executives. You will need to possess strong sales/business development/relationship management expertise, preferably gained in the retail industry. Additionally, experience in issuing or acquiring, as well as deep knowledge of the retail environment, particularly in high street retail, supermarkets, soft retail, department stores, oil, and the T&E sector, would be highly beneficial.
Key responsibilities include:
- Revenue-oriented tasks such as deals, OCIs, and contracts management
- Customer-centric duties like building strong, trusting relationships, quick returns to customers, and selling the right product to the right customer
- Deal formalization and approval, including preparing business models, managing B-smart processes, and coordinating legal reviews
- Assisting in event coordination, including attending Mastercard events, client events, and industry events
- Improving Mastercard acceptance on the merchant's side by implementing innovative solutions, collecting feedback, and managing and tracking initiatives related to merchant portfolios
If you have a Bachelor's degree, an MBA is a plus. Experience in this field is essential, with at least seven years of relevant experience in sales and business development at market leaders in the services or goods provided to retailers. Alternatively, similar/equivalent experience with market leaders in the payments industry serving retailers would also be considered. Proficiency in Portuguese and English is required, with Spanish being a desirable skill. You should be able to demonstrate a level of business acumen and thought leadership, delivering customer-focused, solution-oriented results. Leadership skills, project management abilities, and the capacity to sell to senior management are also essential. This role requires national traveling, potentially internationally, and adherence to Mastercard's security policies and practices.
