Position Overview:
The Cybersecurity Firewall Specialist is tasked with the configuration, oversight, management, and troubleshooting of firewall systems. This role serves as a bridge between local network engineering teams and technical support groups, facilitating the review, design, and deployment of new services while also assessing existing services and managing service/system migrations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as an internal consultant on network security matters, particularly regarding firewall technologies, including Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW) and Unified Threat Management (UTM) systems such as Cisco ASA, Fortinet, and Juniper SRX.
- Implement and manage firewall security policies effectively.
- Oversee daily operations including standard change control, troubleshooting, configuration, monitoring, and management of firewalls in collaboration with TNS Security and Network engineers.
- Monitor the ticketing system for Firewall Operations issues and manage the creation of change requests.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as device upgrades and patches, focusing on firewalls and perimeter devices.
- Lead technical initiatives requiring firewall support, including hardware replacements and customer migrations.
- Participate in the on-call rotation for Network Security to ensure timely responses to out-of-hours incidents.
- Develop technical documentation for departmental use.
- Facilitate training and knowledge sharing within the department as needed.
- Serve as the primary engineer for the Network Security team within the Financial Services Division (FSD).
- Manage key relationships with security partners and internal departments.
- Ensure compliance with all security requirements as mandated by TNS.
- Stay informed about the latest security threats and advancements.
- Promote and execute technology and security improvements.
- Ensure production systems are secure, updated, and vulnerabilities are addressed promptly.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, including Security Information and Event Monitoring (SIEM) tools.
- Collaborate closely with the Director of Security Engineering and other team members on various projects within the Global IT Security department.
- Utilize IPS/IDS technologies for intrusion detection and prevention.
- Manage VPN technologies, including IPSEC and SSL connections.
- Adhere to documented processes and maintain updated architecture diagrams.
- Occasional travel to client sites and events may be required.
Experience Required:
- Proven experience in creating policies and managing Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).
- Hands-on experience with computer networking and firewall technologies.
- Experience with multi-context firewall implementations.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP routing protocols.
- Experience in analyzing and troubleshooting Access Control Lists (ACLs) and VPN tunnels.
- Familiarity with remote access VPN implementation and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Cisco ACS and ISE.
- Relevant security and networking certifications from recognized organizations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of relevant experience.
