Engineering at Brex

Our Engineering team encompasses various disciplines, including Data, IT, Security, and Software Development. We are tasked with creating cutting-edge products and infrastructure for both internal and external stakeholders. Our teams operate autonomously yet collaboratively, with a shared commitment to continuous learning and improvement. Together, we aim to develop robust and scalable systems that facilitate Brex's rapid growth and empower our clients to realize their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers across departments to develop new features and products
  • Partner closely with customer-facing teams to gain insights into user needs
  • Take ownership of projects from inception to completion, considering user experience, data architecture, scalability, and performance metrics
  • Focus on product development, working alongside Product and Design teams to create comprehensive solutions
  • Manage the entire software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, and deployment
  • Maintain high engineering standards and ensure consistency across codebases and processes
  • Mentor junior engineers and set a benchmark for future talent at Brex
  • Drive performance enhancements and contribute to the creation of high-quality, efficient user interfaces
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities for process improvements and best practices within the team

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in architecting, developing, and testing client-side applications
  • Proficiency with modern web technologies and frameworks, such as TypeScript, React, Apollo, Storybook, and Webpack
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards for yourself and your team
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to evaluate multiple technical options and assess their trade-offs
  • Strong inclination towards data-driven decision-making in technical architecture and project prioritization
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
  • Willingness to work in-office a few days a week as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product, design, and operations
  • Basic familiarity with design tools
  • Proven track record of leading initiatives across an organization
