Senior Backend Software Engineering Manager

Agoda is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Backend Software Engineering Manager to lead our team of engineers in the development of cutting-edge software systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to communicate complex technical ideas effectively.
### Job Description:
As a Senior Backend Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and deployment of backend software systems. This includes defining system architecture, managing project timelines and budgets, and ensuring that software meets high-quality standards.
### Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Strong technical expertise in one or more programming languages (Java, Scala, C#) with experience in systems architecture, particularly in complex, scalable, and fault-tolerant distributed systems
* Demonstrable experience as a system owner with operational responsibility
* Proficient in lower-level engineering (garbage collection, context switching, threading)
* DevOps culture - agility, leanness, automation, CI/CD
* Good understanding of application security
* Passionate about technology and the internet
* Must have worked in a successful agile development team
* Must have run engineering teams before with 5+ direct reports
* Able to operate autonomously: making decisions, setting KPIs, with a strong sense of ownership
* Practices data-driven decision-making
