The role of the Global Mainframe AMS Offering Architect and Chief involves overseeing the development and implementation of mainframe programming capabilities globally. This includes guiding and shaping the curriculum of training, as well as allocating cohorts to client work and supporting their ongoing personal development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement mainframe programming capabilities globally.
  • Guide and shape the curriculum of training and track progress of cohorts through the program.
  • Allocate cohorts to client work and support their ongoing personal development.
  • Ensure the quality of work produced by cohorts, working with clients to set standards and ensure follow-through.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise:
  • Deep familiarity with structured programming techniques.
  • Deep knowledge of typical mainframe development languages and database management systems: COBOL, IMS, DB2, CICS.
  • Good experience of implementing DevOps and CI/CD on the mainframe platform including orchestration tools (Jenkins, Azure), Code checking/QA tools (e.g. SonarCube), Source Code Control Systems (Endevor, Git, ISPW etc), deployment tools, system & service management tools (ServiceNow, IBM/BMC/CA monitoring tools), REST interfaces on top of the mainframe OS (z/OSMF, ZOWE and specific subsystems like DB2, MQ, IMS etc.) and the integration with service management tools like ServiceNow or automation like Ansible.
  • Deep knowledge of the mainframe platform starting with z/OS, z/OSMF, RACF but also of other subsystems that are relevant for DevOps engineers, like JES, USS, NetView etc.

Consulting Experience:
  • Good experience of performing consulting work for clients including analysing their situation, gathering requirements, establishing facts, and developing recommendations based on those facts.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience:
  • Deal progression experience.
  • Customer facing experience interfacing with VP to C-Level.
  • Advising on deal strategies and educating sellers about Kyndryl AMS value and capabilities.
  • Application support transition (technological and workforce) projects and various stages of the contract lifecycle.

Management Experience:
  • Management of large mainframe projects, demonstrating deep understanding of how to deliver change on this platform.
  • Leadership of large teams.
  • Good understanding of training and development of large teams.
  • Extensive experience of working across geographies and a full appreciation of the cultural sensitivities and operational challenges that accompany this way of working.
