Job Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Software Developer to join our team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to optimize server performance for public cloud platforms.

The ideal candidate will have strong programming skills and experience in cloud operations or architecture. You will also be interested in learning about Linux distribution packaging and have a solid understanding of package management and dependency resolution.

As a member of our team, you will collaborate with other engineers to maintain high-quality software standards and foster a collaborative environment. You should be curious, flexible, articulate, and accountable, with a passion for building partnerships with diverse internal and external groups.

  • Collaborating Proactively: Work effectively within a distributed team environment.
  • Software Ecosystem Development: Develop a software ecosystem with seamless user experience for all users.
  • Quality Assurance: Evaluate contributions of other engineers to ensure high-quality software standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other teams in the Ubuntu and Debian communities, upstream projects, and commercially supported customers.
  • Issue Resolution: Debug issues on open source code and team-maintained code.
  • Server Maintenance: Work with the Ubuntu Engineering Server team to maintain and package software such as cloud agents, traditional server workloads, and containerization stacks.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong fundamentals in Python programming.
  • Experience in public cloud operations or architecture.
  • A fundamental understanding of Linux distribution packaging.
  • A solid grasp of package management and dependency resolution.
