The applications team is responsible for deploying various solutions, including:

Candidates must possess the ability to interpret complex business needs and transform them into reliable and scalable solutions, which encompass both web and desktop applications, as well as data and API integrations. A successful Software Developer will demonstrate excellence in the following areas:

  • Mentoring fellow team members
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining robust applications
  • Collaborating effectively with both the development team and business stakeholders

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Java applications in alignment with Expeditors' architectural standards
  • Provide technical guidance and support throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Lead the adoption of design methodologies and best practices
  • Work alongside various teams within the Expeditors network to create secure, scalable, and user-focused solutions
  • Facilitate the timely delivery of quality solutions by enabling team efficiency
  • Evaluate and identify opportunities to improve development methodologies and reduce technical debt
  • Research and implement new tools and technologies to enhance development capabilities
  • Share expertise in development standards through coaching and training
  • Identify potential risks and adhere to Cybersecurity and Corporate IS development protocols
  • Deploy optimized code with performance monitoring
  • Conduct code reviews and perform unit testing to ensure timely delivery of quality solutions
  • Translate business requirements into actionable technical tasks
  • Create technical and end-user documentation
  • Support agile methodologies and maintain current work management systems (e.g., Azure DevOps)

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Over 5 years of experience in object-oriented programming and Java development within a team setting
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant IT field
  • Proficiency in Java, Angular, Python, Spring, and SQL
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
  • Experience with version control and CI/CD tools (e.g., Git, GitLab)
  • Proficient in Eclipse or IntelliJ IDEs, along with various plugins, Maven, and Nexus
  • Ability to work effectively within a cross-functional development team
  • Self-motivated with a customer-focused mindset and strong time management skills
  • Proficient in English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of the freight forwarding sector
  • Experience with UI/UX principles
  • Oracle Java certification
  • SAFe or Agile certification
