Software Leadership Role

We are seeking an accomplished Software Development Manager to oversee our Ubuntu Server team.

About the Job:

The ideal candidate will be passionate about software development, experienced in managing distributed teams, and skilled in agile methodologies.

  • Build a high-performing team of engineers through coaching, mentoring, and hands-on career development.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to define product vision and strategy.
  • Effectively communicate with engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders.
  • Drive adoption of modern software development practices.
  • Foster a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values.
  • Participate in code and architectural reviews.
  • Promote collaboration with Canonical, open source communities, and commercial partners.
  • Oversee quality of the Ubuntu Server image family.
  • Develop and deliver Ubuntu Server features.

Requirements:

  • Strong track record of developing and growing people.
  • Experience leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring software developers.
  • Focus on success and timely delivery of high-quality software.
  • Agile development experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar field.
  • Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.
  • Experience with Debian or Ubuntu.
  • Practical experience with Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or Amazon Web Services.
