ESG Regulatory Counsel Role

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to serve as ESG Regulatory & Product Material Compliance Counsel for the South America region, based in Brazil.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the development of corporate ESG and product regulatory compliance strategies.
  • Monitor and interpret ESG and product material compliance related regulations in the region, impacting Hitachi Energy.
  • Translate legal requirements into company, business, and product impact, developing effective compliance and implementation strategies, including adequate risk management.
  • Align local or regional approaches with global processes and requirements, ensuring consistent and efficient implementation throughout Business Units and Functions.
  • Provide guidance and coordination on legal correspondence with officials, customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders across Hitachi Energy's organization.
  • Build and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies in governments and administration to further boost Hitachi Energy's compliance activities.
  • Support the establishment of new or improvement of existing compliance processes.
  • Proactively identify and lead compliance-related issues and challenges, heading internal investigations and leading Hitachi Energy's legal position.
  • Ensure the implementation of corporate regulations and standards in the region, monitoring execution.
  • Develop and provide education to all stakeholders, creating effective ways for visible knowledge sharing throughout the company.

This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of ESG regulations and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a legal degree from an accredited law school, bar admission desirable, experience with ESG regulations, particularly environmental regulations. Knowledge of chemistry, materials science, or engineering is a significant plus. The ability to work and report remotely, as well as a dynamic and open-minded attitude to changes, is essential. Intercultural sensitivity is necessary for success in this role.
