Collection Manager

Amerita is seeking a skilled Medical Collections Specialist to support our Revenue Cycle Management team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for managing medical account receivables, ensuring timely payments and maintaining compliance with regulations.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in medical collections, with a strong understanding of managed care, commercial insurance, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement.
Responsibilities will include:
- Researching outstanding balances and taking necessary collection action to resolve in a timely manner;
- Understanding and adhering to state and federal regulations regarding compliance, integrity, patient privacy and ethical billing and collection practices;
- Resubmitting accurate and timely claims in formats including, but not limited to, CMS-1500 and electronic 837;
- Negotiating payment plans with patients in accordance with company collection policies;
- Identifying patterns of short-payment or non-payment and bringing them to the attention of appropriate supervisory personnel;
- Reviewing insurance remittance advices for accuracy and resolving accordingly;
- Communicating consistently and professionally with other Amerita employees.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience in medical collections;
- A high school diploma/GED or equivalent;
- Solid Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel and Outlook;
- Ability to type 40 wpm and proficiency with a 10-key calculator;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
