ABOUT THE POSITION

Khan Academy Brazil is on the lookout for a seasoned Finance Manager to lead our financial operations as we expand in Brazil. In this pivotal role, you will be tasked with establishing robust systems and processes in Brazil, alongside managing daily accounting and financial activities. You will collaborate closely with our external BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) partners and work in tandem with cross-functional leaders to ensure compliance and maintain high standards in financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with teams across Brazil, Latin America, and the U.S. to facilitate the transition of the local entity to full operational status, including taking the lead in setting up payroll and financial systems while ensuring precise financial reporting.
  • Supervise financial operations supported by external BPO vendors, encompassing accounts payable, accounts receivable, monthly closing procedures, and payroll and benefits management.
  • Oversee Brazilian tax preparation and statutory audits, while supporting the U.S. financial audit, ensuring robust fiscal management and financial controls are upheld throughout the year.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation of all accounting policies and procedures, effectively communicating strong financial controls.
  • Lead the financial planning process for Brazil, aligning our financial model with the strategic objectives of the organization while considering current priorities and landscape.
  • Provide strategic financial insights to facilitate informed decision-making, enhance financial performance, and align overall business strategy.
  • Prepare and present financial reports and analyses to the Managing Director and the Khan Academy Brazil Board as required.
  • Assist in the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes for other Latin American countries.

What You Bring:

  • Over 5 years of full-time experience in finance and accounting roles within a dynamic organization.
  • Excellent communication skills, an analytical mindset, and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • An operational focus with a hands-on approach and meticulous attention to detail to manage both overarching strategies and specific financial tasks.
  • Knowledge of or certification in U.S. GAAP and Brazilian GAAP.
  • Residency or willingness to relocate to São Paulo, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to the role.
  • Proficiency in Portuguese and English.

You Would Be a Great Fit If You Have:

  • Experience in managerial financial roles and in establishing new entities, preferably within non-profit or educational organizations.
  • A comprehensive understanding of operational processes, with a focus on financial excellence and team leadership.

What Is Nice to Have:

  • Proficiency in Spanish at an intermediate level or higher.
  • Experience working with a U.S. non-profit entity.
