About the Role

Wabtec Corporation is a leading global provider of equipment, systems, digital solutions, and value-added services for freight and transit rail. As a Principal Software Architect, you will play a key role in shaping the company's digital future.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive the technical vision and implementation of the unified application platform, harmonizing IBM mainframe applications and cloud-native applications.
  • Capture the current architecture and design the high-level architecture of the unified application platform, accommodating both iSeries applications and cloud-native applications.
  • Create an architectural blueprint outlining the integration strategy, identifying key components, and defining interfaces and data flows.
  • Deliver Cloud Native Architecture for large Railroad for an Enterprise scale application, utilizing Microservices Software Development Principles.
  • Evaluate technologies, frameworks, and tools to achieve integration and harmonization goals, considering scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with development teams, product managers, project managers, business stakeholders, and other architects to align the technical vision with business requirements.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical leadership to development teams, ensuring adherence to architectural guidelines and best practices.
  • Identify and manage risks associated with integration and harmonization, anticipating potential challenges and developing mitigation strategies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or STEM Majors.
  • 12+ years of experience in architecture, software design, and cloud technologies.
  • In-depth understanding of software, software architecture, and system-level design patterns using Java and related software ecosystems.
  • Deep understanding and hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies, deployment, and customer engagement.
  • Experience with distributed SQL systems, message systems, and cache systems.
  • Experience migrating workloads from mainframe and non-legacy systems to distributed infrastructures.
  • Advanced understanding of Kubernetes, software design patterns for HA and observable microservices.
  • Ability to understand the technology stack and its impact on the final product.
  • Superior knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle and strong collaboration history with Quality Engineering and DevOps teams.
