Purpose of the Role
The Commercial Operations Specialist is responsible for conducting thorough analyses and providing strategic recommendations regarding Pricing, Contracts, and Product Management. This role aims to enhance Target Pricing and Bid Management through effective data management, market analysis, and trend identification. The specialist will evaluate cost drivers, commodity indices, and relevant market information to facilitate informed pricing adjustments and product portfolio decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Initiatives:
- Prioritize safety in all operational activities.
- Mentor less experienced team members on safety protocols.
- Foster a safety-conscious environment by identifying and reporting potential hazards.
Pricing Analytics:
- Generate analytical data to support Target Pricing strategies.
- Conduct Price and Volume Analytics segmented by market.
- Analyze Win/Loss Rates through CRM insights.
- Gather Competitive Intelligence and evaluate pricing assumptions.
- Monitor Market and Cost Indices and Trends.
- Execute pricing analytics, governance, and reporting for contracts and billing processes.
Contract Analytics:
- Maintain and update the Bid Management Workbook.
- Develop Contract Proformas and construct Bid Scenarios.
- Collaborate with Finance to create accurate Bid P&L and product cost models.
- Conduct monthly profitability analyses of contracts and flag critical issues for management.
- Facilitate bi-annual reviews of contract performance.
- Work with local teams to minimize excess inventory.
- Collaborate with Operations and Procurement to forecast product costs and trends for negotiation purposes.
Product Line Analytics:
- Assess the performance of product portfolios to inform decisions on product mix and rationalization.
- Conduct Portfolio and Mix Analysis to support Product Specialists.
CRM Coordination:
- Oversee competitor data entry and maintenance within the CRM system.
- Collaborate with IT to develop reporting tools and dashboards for the commercial team.
- Analyze Win/Loss Rates and gather Competitive Intelligence.
Market Analysis for New Products:
- Conduct comprehensive market analysis, including master data management.
- Analyze market trends and relevant data sources.
- Provide special analytics upon request.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Master's degree (MA/MS/MBA) or equivalent preferred.
- 4-6 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in English is required.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Familiarity with IT systems such as NPIP, PIMS, Qlik, CRM, PowerBI, and Microsoft Office.
- Understanding of business and finance metrics including NPV, IRR, and Capex justification.
