Technical Leadership Opportunity

We are seeking a seasoned technical leader to oversee the development of our software distribution engine. This is a remote-based role, with opportunities to collaborate with global teams and contribute to the growth of open-source software.

The ideal candidate will have experience in leading modern software development practices, with a strong focus on agile methodologies and collaboration. They will be responsible for setting expectations with other engineering teams and stakeholders, while also engaging with the open-source community and commercial partners.

The successful candidate will possess a passion for clean APIs, excellent communication skills, and a track record of developing and growing talent. They will work closely with the leadership team to develop an engineering roadmap with ambitious goals, while ensuring the delivery of high-quality software.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a remote team of engineers
  • Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development
  • Set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, management, and external stakeholders
  • Be an active part of the leadership team and collaborate with other leaders in the organization
  • Engage with multiple teams at Canonical, as well as the open-source community and commercial partners
Qualifications
  • Experience in leading modern software development practices
  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies and collaboration
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Practical experience with Linux system administration
  • Passion for clean APIs and software development
