Job Overview

We're seeking a highly skilled Engineer with expertise in developing and enhancing engine, electric drivetrain, and vehicle control system concepts. As a key member of our Locomotive NPI Controls team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing solutions that maximize product performance, reliability, and safety while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and enhance engine, electric drivetrain, and vehicle control system concepts for new technology applications.
  • Define engine, electric drivetrain, and vehicle control feature/diagnostics requirements and documentation.
  • Prototype new control applications concepts/enhancements through modeling and simulation.
  • Develop MATLAB scripts and SIMULINK models.
  • Develop feature test procedures to ensure performance meets requirements.
  • Perform and document failure modes analysis (DFMEA).
  • Support feature calibration and validation efforts in the engine test cell, integrated hardware simulator testing, locomotive system testing, customer acceptance and field in-service monitoring.
  • Support design and documentation updates for safety and regulatory compliance assurance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Professional project experience in engine/powertrain systems, electrical systems/controls modeling, and/or control systems engineering.
  • Strong technical aptitude and proficiency with engineering tools and processes.
  • Demonstrated technical project or program execution capability.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Aerospace Engineering.
  • Proficient in control theory and/or control methods including system identification, logic and state machines, closed loop control systems, and discrete time control system implementation.
  • Strong experience with vehicle powertrain/drivetrain equipment, systems, control, and diagnostics.
  • Strong experience with electric vehicle/hybrid power applications, design, and testing.
