Position Overview:

The Ethics and Compliance Counsel (E&C) plays a pivotal role in providing expert guidance on anti-corruption and compliance matters aligned with 3M's Code of Conduct. This position is integral to ensuring adherence to policies that reflect the realities of our business operations across various markets and regions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expert Legal Counsel: Offer comprehensive advice to business units and functional teams on anti-corruption and compliance issues, delivering innovative and practical solutions that align with 3M's ethical standards and legal requirements.
  • Third-Party Engagement: Manage the evaluation and approval process for third-party due diligence, including drafting compliance clauses and facilitating training and communication with external partners.
  • Business Conduct Oversight: Serve as a steward for Business Conduct Committees, ensuring active leadership participation and engagement in compliance initiatives.
  • Cultivating a Compliance Culture: Identify training needs and develop relevant content, executing training sessions to promote a culture of integrity and ethical behavior within the organization.
  • Global Compliance Initiatives: Participate in risk assessments and compliance evaluations, supporting the global compliance communication strategy and contributing to special projects aimed at enhancing compliance frameworks.
  • Compliance Investigations: Provide support following investigations, assisting in employee outcomes and business remediation efforts.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a valid legal license to practice in Brazil, with a minimum of five years of legal experience, including at least two years focused on Ethics and Compliance in a multinational context. Proficiency in English and Spanish, alongside native Portuguese, is essential, with additional languages considered advantageous.

Demonstrated ability to manage diverse teams and work independently is crucial, as is a strong capacity for interpersonal communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving. The candidate should exhibit flexibility and cultural awareness, with the ability to build strong relationships across various organizational levels.

This role offers the flexibility of remote or hybrid work arrangements, with occasional requirements to visit the headquarters as necessary. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
