At the forefront of innovation, we seek a seasoned Engineering Manager to lead our Cloud Server initiative. This is an exceptional chance for a highly motivated individual to spearhead a globally distributed team and drive the development of cloud-init.

This role demands strategic vision, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for agile software development practices. As an influential member of our leadership team, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, advocate for modern development methodologies, and grow a collaborative engineering culture aligned with our company values.

  • Build and nurture a high-performing team of engineers, providing coaching, mentoring, and hands-on career development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to define the vision and strategy for Ubuntu and your team.
  • Effectively communicate with stakeholders, senior management, and external partners to set expectations and advance key projects.
  • Participate in code and architectural reviews to ensure the highest quality of our Ubuntu Server image family.
  • Work closely with teams at Canonical, the open source community, and commercial partners to engage in strong engineering processes.
Requirements
  • A proven track record of leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring software developers, with experience managing distributed teams being a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in software development leadership roles.
  • Strong technical knowledge and passion for software development.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
  • Experience working with modern GNU/Linux distributions, such as Debian or Ubuntu.
  • Practical experience with cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or Amazon Web Services.
  • Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.
