About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Hiab. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for driving process improvements and ensuring the efficient operation of our manufacturing processes.

Main Responsibilities

  • Safety
    • Ensure compliance with company safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within the team.
    • Collaborate with the safety coordinator to implement safety improvements.
    • Investigate and report on lost time incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Quality
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date BOMs, routing, and standard times in our ERP system.
    • Develop and implement standard work and standard operating procedures, supporting the team in creating and updating new SOPs.
    • Drive quality-related improvements in production, ensuring adherence to company standards.
  • Delivery
    • Work closely with the value stream manager/leader to develop and implement process improvements, including information flow, systems, and process reviews.
    • Introduce new product introductions (NPIs) process, providing input on design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA), SOPs, ERP routing, and standard times in conjunction with R&D and the NPI team.
    • Manage continuous improvement efforts for quick changeovers, standardized work, and workplace organization to optimize value stream layout.
    • Collaborate with the warehouse manager to achieve optimal material flow.
    • Implement visual management from concept to implementation, writing procedures necessary to support cargo-manufacturing systems.
    • Coordinate the implementation of engineering changes and utilize the value stream map to aid productivity.
    • Own line balancing to smooth labor loading.
    • Design and implement cell design and line layout in accordance with the value stream map (VSM) and value stream layout (VSL).
    • Provide training on new methods to the value stream team.
  • Productivity
    • Lead Lean Kaizen events within the value stream as required, including value stream mapping and line balancing.
    • Train and implement Lean manufacturing tools and concepts, including 6S, Six Sigma, and Total Productive Maintenance.
    • Develop creative Lean manufacturing solutions for the value stream.
    • Manage technical improvement projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering-related discipline.
  • Advanced English language skills.
  • Strong experience from the mechanical industry and assembly operations.
  • Systems (ERP) knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of Lean principles, such as Six Sigma.
  • Project management skills.
  • Knowledge and awareness of modern manufacturing methods and tools.
  • Strong technical understanding of manufactured products and their functionality.
  • Collaborative solution-driven approach.
  • Proficiency in engineering drawing tools, particularly in Google Suite, Microsoft Visio, and Autodesk (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Pro-E/Creo).
