Are you a driven journalist looking to cover the Amazon rainforest and its impact on the global climate?

We are seeking a talented reporter to join our team in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo or Brasília, Brazil. This is a temporary position lasting through October 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with our team of reporters and editors to deliver spot news and enterprise coverage related to the Amazon.
  • Develop and maintain a strong network of sources to provide unique stories ahead of competing media outlets.
  • Have a proven track record of successful beat reporting, strong storytelling on deadline and the production of explanatory stories that engage audiences.
  • Be able to work effectively as a member of a team, communicating clearly and concisely in written and spoken English and Portuguese.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, such as at least five years of full-time experience at a daily newspaper, broadcast station, online or digital news outlet, or an AP bureau or regional desk.
  • Authorization to work in Brazil or be able to gain permission to do so.
  • Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English and Portuguese, with knowledge of both languages being a plus.
  • Basic proficiency in using an iPhone for photos and video, with advanced proficiency being a plus.
