Job Summary

As the Head of Original Programming, you will be responsible for shaping the future of original content across one of television's most dynamic portfolios. This role requires a strong vision, leadership skills, and the ability to drive audience engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop individual network original programming vision plans that align with network brand needs
  • Articulate and promote network brands and needs to writers, producers, agents, managers, studio execs, and distributors
  • Supervise preparation, production, and post-production of original content, including live programming events
  • Oversee original content submissions, lead show and script development, and green-light process to production
  • Collaborate on development and programming budgets, focusing on cost-effectiveness and revenue growth
  • Create original viable concepts and manage their development, ensuring they meet network brand standards
  • Evaluate and authorize hiring of above-the-line creative personnel, prioritizing talent that meets network requirements
  • Bring creativity to long-form and short-form content, pushing the boundaries of storytelling and engaging audiences
  • Approve locations and script alterations, while assisting Business Affairs in negotiations as needed
  • Identify creative opportunities across genres and platforms, driving innovation and growth
  • Monitor creative content, provide producers with timely feedback, and offer network notes on rough-cuts
  • Approve locked cuts, oversee music, sound mix, color correction, and visual effects (VFX), ensuring high-quality output
  • Lead promotion of programs conducted by ancillary departments, leveraging marketing channels and campaigns
  • Supervise personnel within the Original Scripted Department, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment
  • Oversee departmental documents and reports, status updates, production tracking, and submission management, maintaining organization and efficiency
  • Represent networks at industry functions, promoting partnerships and collaborations
Requirements
  • Proven track record in original programming, with experience in developing and producing content
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and direct teams
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to articulate network brand needs
  • Creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to think outside the box and drive innovation
  • Ability to work under pressure, meeting deadlines and managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of industry trends and developments, with the ability to stay ahead of the curve
