Job Title: Chief Data Architect

About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned data architect to lead the design and evolution of our relational data systems. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for defining schemas, building models, and enforcing standards that ensure our data is reliable, secure, and highly performant.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Schema Design & Modeling: Develop logical and physical data models that scale with complex, multi-tenant applications.
  • Database Optimization: Tune queries, indexes, and partitioning strategies for maximum performance and reliability.
  • Integration & Sync: Support ETL/ELT processes and ensure robust data synchronization across distributed environments.
  • Governance & Security: Establish standards for data quality, retention, lineage, and compliance (SOC2, GDPR, etc.).
  • Collaboration: Partner with developers and product teams to ensure the database architecture supports real-world use cases.
  • Documentation & Standards: Define naming conventions, coding standards, and best practices to ensure long-term maintainability.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Deep Expertise in Relational Database Design: Strong preference for PostgreSQL.
  • Strong Command of SQL: Query optimization and performance tuning.
  • Experience with Schema Normalization/Denormalization: Partitioning strategies.
  • Familiarity with Backup, Recovery, High Availability, and Disaster Recovery Planning:
  • Solid Understanding of Security Practices: Encryption, access controls, and auditing.
  • Background in Designing for Multi-Tenant or Large-Scale Transactional Systems:
