About the Role
RINA is seeking a highly skilled Marine Surveyor to join its team in the Marine South-West Europe Region Division. As a surveyor in a classification society, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and quality of ships and marine structures.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a professional specialist for the organization in the application of related rules, regulations, requirements, concepts, principles, and processes;
- Prepare technically accurate and timely reports of inspections and surveys performed;
- Maintain survey files in an orderly and up-to-date manner in area of responsibility;
- Maintain active awareness of new working methods and developments affecting the technical scope of assigned responsibilities;
- Recommend new approaches to problems encountered;
- Perform routine surveys on classed ships, platforms, or other marine structures and at manufacturers' sites for compliance with classification and statutory requirements;
- Engage in contact with clients to solve problems within area of expertise.
Requirements
- Formal qualification in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Marine Engineer;
- 2 years of professional experience are preferred, either as a surveyor or as an owner superintendent or as a shipyard quality control inspector or as a Chief Engineer (on board of merchant ships);
- Previous experience as a surveyor of IACS Classification Societies would be a significant advantage;
- Physically able to work in confined spaces, hazardous atmospheres, extreme temperatures, and weather conditions, etc. and therefore being not suffering from allergies, vertigo, claustrophobia, etc.;
- Willingness to travel;
- Practical and theoretical knowledge of hull, machinery, materials, equipment, and safety systems of ships;
- Fluent English language, both spoken and written;
- Good communication skills;
- Ability to work alone, in a team, and on tight schedules;
- Ability to manage conflicts and to negotiate;
- Pro-active customer-focused approach.
