Role Overview

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate prompt cost estimates during the pre-tendering phase utilizing the product cost database and insights from previous project executions.
  • Assist the Bid Manager in crafting the Instruction For Quotation (IFQ), aligning with the established pricing strategy.
  • Establish the cost framework for bids in accordance with the Request for Proposal (RFP) requirements, sales expectations, and other relevant factors.
  • Determine target costs for various activities and subsystems in collaboration with Bid subsystem managers, ensuring alignment with competitive pricing and identifying discrepancies against the Reference Solution.
  • Direct cost estimation efforts based on target cost methodologies, engaging all relevant units and specialties.
  • Initiate cost enhancement initiatives to achieve the desired tender costs and target pricing, leveraging all competitive advantages while challenging contributors.
  • Collaborate closely with the Finance Tender Manager to optimize financial expenditures (including bonds, financing, hedging, insurance, taxes, etc.) and enhance the overall competitiveness of the bid.
  • Compile tender cost commitments in accordance with financial regulations and utilize the consolidation tool (Mercury).
  • Assess the robustness of cost estimates, ensuring consistency between the scope of work, received costings, and project timelines, employing the Costing robustness assessment grid.
  • Prepare the Costing package for the Tender Review Meeting (TRM), including cost analyses, standard reports, cash flow curves, etc., and assist the tender leader in developing the pricing sheet for clients.
  • Oversee cost estimation activities in conjunction with the Bid subsystem manager for modifications discussed with clients during negotiation phases, updating cost commitments accordingly.
  • Transfer tender costing information (along with relevant assumptions) to the Project team during the Tender Transfer Meeting (TTM), including variance analysis from TRM to TTM.
  • Conduct comparative analyses of various solutions and support Make or Buy assessments in partnership with the Finance Project Manager.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Over 5 years of experience in a financial role.
  • Proficient in recognizing product-related costs and comprehending operational workflows (engineering, manufacturing, industrial, etc.).
  • Capable of analyzing and challenging commitments made by contributors.
  • Skilled in defining the cost implications of terms and conditions.
  • Adequate understanding of financial regulations and contractual elements (bonds & guarantees, etc.).
  • Experience in value analysis, product costing, and cost modeling.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Results-oriented and data-driven mindset.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative spirit in a diverse environment.
  • Proactive with a strong inclination towards process implementation and continuous improvement.
  • Curiosity about the product and its surrounding environment.
  • Ability to work effectively within a network and integrate with bid and project teams while maintaining independence.
  • Excellent communication skills (presentations, synthesis, relationship management with contributors, etc.).
  • Comfortable working in an international and multicultural setting.

  • High proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint.

Educational Requirements:

Degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance, or Engineering.

Language Proficiency:

Fluency in English is mandatory; advanced proficiency in Spanish is preferred.

Travel Requirements:
