Linux Kernel Engineer Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Linux kernel engineer to support silicon enablement for our leading Linux distribution. This role requires expertise in software development at the hardware level and a passion for ensuring optimal silicon performance.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with a globally distributed team to deliver high-quality kernel solutions
  • Work closely with silicon vendor partners to integrate platform support into our Linux kernel
  • Diagnose and resolve issues in the kernel reported by partners, customers, and the community
  • Take ownership of delivering distinct silicon-optimised variants of our Linux kernel
  • Improve tooling and automation for kernel delivery and testing
  • Submit, review, and apply kernel patches, working with internal and external upstream maintainers
  • Identify new means of maximising performance on partner silicon
Requirements:
  • A well-organised and motivated self-starter able to thrive in a remote work environment
  • A professional manner with colleagues, business partners, and the open-source community
  • The ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
  • SIGNIFICANT programming ability in C
  • A strong grasp of device drivers, BSPs, and other aspects of hardware-level system engineering
  • A solid background with git
  • An understanding of operating system kernel fundamentals
  • The ability to travel twice a year for company events
