Transforming the Future of Rail Transportation

We are seeking an Electrical Control Systems Engineer to join our Locomotive NPI Controls team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in developing control strategy requirements and concepts, designing and implementing solutions, performing control system calibration and validation, and supporting issue resolution for both New Technology and New Product Introduction initiatives.

About the Role:

You will be responsible for supporting control system enhancements and new feature development for Wabtec's family of diesel electric, dual fuel, and hybrid diesel-battery locomotives, as well as marine and stationary engine systems. This includes:

  • Developing and enhancing engine and electric drivetrain control system concepts for new technology applications as part of new product introductions
  • Defining engine and electric drivetrain control feature/diagnostics requirements and documentation
  • Prototyping new control applications concepts/enhancements through modeling and simulation
  • Developing MATLAB scripts and SIMULINK models
  • Performing and documenting failure modes analysis (DFMEA)

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years' project experience in engine/powertrain systems, electrical systems/controls modeling, and/or control systems engineering
  • Skilled in designing, using and analyzing Visio and SIMULINK model diagrams
  • Ability to support on-site locomotive testing & validation
