About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior PostgreSQL Database Engineer to join our team at SAP SE. As a key member of our database engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our PostgreSQL databases to ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement database solutions to support our business applications and services.
  • Develop and maintain database performance tuning strategies to optimize database performance and reduce latency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve database-related issues and performance bottlenecks.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of database automation scripts and tools to improve database management and maintenance.
  • Work closely with our DevOps team to ensure seamless integration with our continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to our database administrators and engineers to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to manage our databases effectively.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest PostgreSQL features and best practices to ensure our databases are optimized for performance and security.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in database administration and engineering, with a strong focus on PostgreSQL.
  • Excellent knowledge of PostgreSQL database management, including backup and recovery procedures, database security, and performance tuning.
  • Strong experience with database performance tuning, including indexing, caching, and query optimization.
  • Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Bash, and experience with automation tools such as Ansible or Puppet.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills, with the ability to analyze complex database issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, and knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
