Data Protection Specialist Position Overview

 

Job Summary:

This is an excellent opportunity to enhance the company’s data privacy framework. We seek a Data Protection Specialist to implement robust policies and procedures, aligning with global data protection regulations and best practices.

 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strengthen Data Privacy Framework:
    • Implement and maintain effective data protection policies, procedures, and guidelines that meet regulatory requirements.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Privacy Management System Implementation:
    • Support the implementation of our new Privacy Management System by working closely with vendors and internal stakeholders.
    • Configure system settings, create assessment templates, and establish efficient process workflows, documentation, and reporting.
  • Data Governance:
    • Conduct comprehensive data mapping exercises across the organization.
    • Identify personal data flows, establish data governance structures, and control mechanisms.
  • Risk Assessment and Compliance:
    • Perform Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Records of Processing Activities (RoPA).
    • Run AI risk governance activities and support supplier assessments based on privacy risks.
    • Conduct re-assessments of personal data processing activities based on risk.
  • Regulatory Compliance Management:
    • Ensure adherence to GDPR and other relevant global data protection regulations.
    • Monitor regulatory developments and implement necessary changes to maintain compliance.
  • Incident Management:
    • Act as the primary point of contact for reporting and handling personal data incidents.
    • Implement effective response and coordinate remediation efforts to minimize impact and prevent reoccurrence.
  • Training and Awareness:
    • Develop and deliver training programs to raise awareness of data protection responsibilities among employees.

 

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Strong understanding of data protection principles, laws, and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

While not required, it would be beneficial if you have:

  • Globally recognized data protection certifications.
  • Experience working with privacy management platforms.
  • Familiarity with information security standards.
