Pharmacist Assistant Learner

Dis-Chem Pinecrest store has an opportunity available for a Dispensary Assistant to join the team. The main purpose of this is to employ learners who are capable of completing a learner basic pharmacist assistant course.

This course will equip learners with the underlying principles of all major areas related to the pharmaceutical environment and dispensing, promoting quality on-the-job learning. Staff will be employed in a Fixed Term position as Dispensary Assistants until such time as they are registered with the SAPC as learner basic assistants.

Once qualified as a basic pharmacist assistant, permanent employment will be offered.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work well under pressure, and possess good time management skills.

They should also be proficient in computer skills, have numerical skills, and be able to read, write, and speak English and a second language.

Responsibilities include assisting pharmacists in a pharmacy, selling Schedule 1 medicines or scheduled substances, assisting with the compounding, manipulation, or preparation of non-sterile medicines or scheduled substances, and any other duties assigned by the Dispensary Manager.

• Essential: Grade 12 – Matric or a Senior Certificate with Pure Mathematics 50%, Life Science and/or Physical Science and obtained at least an average of 50%.

Advantageous qualifications include retail FMCG experience and a good performance record, drug and family planning, and complementary medicine knowledge, as well as proficiency in Unisolv, SAP, and E-Scripting.

Special conditions of employment include proficiency tests assessing capability to register with Pharmacy Council, South African citizenship, and MIE, clear criminal, and credit records.
