Piling Supervisor

Moffatt & Nichol is a leading global infrastructure advisor specializing in the planning and design of facilities that shape and serve our coastlines, harbors, and rivers.

We are seeking a highly skilled Piling Supervisor to join our team on a Marine Works Project in Pernambuco, Brazil. The successful candidate will supervise the contractor pile driver crew and be responsible for ensuring the accurate placement and driving of various types of piles in accordance with blueprints or verbal instructions.

• Supervise the work of the contractor crew in removing piles by attaching cables and giving hoisting signals
• Supervise the contractor crew in operating a water jet to release piling from the mud; directs piles into place by signalling to the pile driver operator
• Supervise the contractor crew sawing piling to the correct length and places caps, decking, deck stringers, and sway bracing
• Supervise the contractor crew in framing the piling by drilling holes and bolting and strapping the frame
• Use levels to assure accuracy
• Supervise the contractor crew removing broken timbers and replaces them with new timbers; rows boats; rafts, trims, and heads piles
• Supervise the contractor crew in constructing falsework and scaffolding as necessary
• Supervise the contractor crew in erecting and dismantling the pile driver and rig and making repairs to them
• Supervise the contractor crew in all the support and other activities related to the piling
• Prepare reports on the progress and status of work

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
• 4 years of experience at a journey level
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
• Availability and willingness to travel
• Read, interpret, and apply simple blueprints and plans for placing and framing piling
• Proficient in use of tools, equipment, and practices used in driving and removing wood and concrete piles in water and on land and pile wrapping operations
• Rigging required in setting and removing piles
• Approved practices and procedures for public and worker's safety, including pertinent State and City laws and regulations
• Techniques of erecting falsework, repairing docks, and framing piling as required in pile driving work
• All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

The majority of work is office-based. Some site visits may be required, which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
