Job Description

United Nations is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Consultant to work on a project focused on disaster risk reduction and urban resilience in the Middle Paraíba and Green Coast regions of Rio de Janeiro. The consultant will be responsible for guiding junior technical consultants and ensuring the successful completion of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement project activities related to disaster risk reduction and urban resilience.
  • Conduct field visits, interviews, and technical visits in high-risk disaster areas.
  • Prepare and write reports, including a profile report of the Middle Paraíba and Green Coast regions and a report on priority initiatives for disaster risk reduction.
  • Collaborate with local project teams, government officials, media, and civil society organizations.
  • Ensure that all activities observe the principles of integrity of the United Nations.

Requirements:

  • Postgraduate degree in Engineering, Architecture, Urbanism, Geography, Urban Studies, Economics, Environmental Sciences, Climate Change, or related fields.
  • Minimum of six years of progressively responsible experience in project/programme management on urban and resilience-related themes.
  • Good computer skills in Windows and Office packages and Web search engines.
  • Good knowledge of data sources and data analysis.
  • Good handling of multiple writing and peer-review tasks.

Language: Fluency in Portuguese is required.

Travel: The consultant must be available to travel to the places related to the activities in the country, if requested by the National Officer for Brazil and/or the International Office.

Remuneration: The consultant will receive an amount of BRL 38,208 to be paid in three installments upon the presentation and approval of the following products.
