At AgileEngine, we're seeking a skilled PostgreSQL Database Engineer to design and implement efficient databases.

Job Description

A database engineer will create scalable and maintainable systems using complex relational database designs. Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing schemas that support product features and scalability
  • Maintaining and tuning database performance for high availability and responsiveness
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure data flow reliability
  • Monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving database-related issues

A successful candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in database engineering focusing on PostgreSQL, strong knowledge of SQL performance tuning, and experience with schema design for scalable systems.

Required Skills

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Proven experience designing and maintaining complex relational database systems
  • Strong knowledge of indexing strategies and query optimization
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
  • Solid understanding of data integrity, backups, and replication strategies

We also value candidates with experience working in cloud services like AWS RDS or GCP Cloud SQL, data migration techniques, and DevOps practices.

Nice to Have Skills

Candidates with the following skills are highly desirable:

  • Experience with other databases (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB)
  • Familiarity with technologies like sqitch, pgtaps, dbt, metaplane, and AWS Glue
